Marc Cucurella’s Spain teammate tells him to leave Chelsea and join his club this summer

Chelsea are braced for bids to come their way for defender Marc Cucurella this summer, and his Spain teammate has told him to join Atletico Madrid in this transfer window.

Cucurella has a desire to leave Stamford Bridge this summer due to the uncertainty around the Blues, as well as their woeful 2025/26 campaign.

There is plenty of interest from La Liga’s top sides in bringing him back to his home country, where he has always had a desire to return to before ending his career.

If Chelsea signed Marquinhos, where would you rank him among the Premier League’s top centre-backs?

Spain World Cup star Marc Pubill tells Marc Cucurella to join Atletico Madrid

All of the defender’s interest right now will be on the World Cup. He is expected to start for Spain, who are one of the favourites to win the tournament.

He has been joined in the Spain squad by Atletico Madrid defender Marc Pubill, who made 36 appearances at centre-back for them this season.

As per El Nacional, the 22-year-old has stated in a press conference that he has already told Cucurella to join him in Madrid next season.

He said: “Yes, of course. I’ve already told him.”

Chelsea fans voted for Cucurella as one of their biggest underperformers from the recently finished season, based on how impressive he has been for the majority of his time at the club.

What is Xabi Alonso’s number one priority as soon as he walks through those doors?🤔

Chelsea do not see Marc Cucurella as untouchable

Chelsea reportedly only see five players as untouchable for incoming manager Xabi Alonso, including Reece James, Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo.

Cucurella is not on this list, with it being said that the strong performances of Jorrel Hato have played a part in their thinking.

Enzo Fernandez is another not named as an untouchable, with it well known just how keen he is to move to Spain and play for Real Madrid.

Chelsea losing two of their big-name stars would hardly be the perfect welcome for Alonso, although can be expected when looking at Chelsea’s precarious financial situation with UEFA.
