Arsenal keeping tabs on 'skilful' youngster, he outscored Martinelli last season

Arsenal want to sign a new left winger this summer as they aim to build on last season’s Premier League triumph.

The Daily Mail report Arsenal are one of the clubs monitoring Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic.

The Gunners face competition from Leeds United, Aston Villa, Napoli, AS Roma and Inter Milan for his signature.

Alajbegovic enjoyed his breakthrough season at RB Salzburg last season, scoring 13 goals across all competitions, more than Gabriel Martinelli (11) registered for Arsenal.

Described as ‘quick and skilful‘, the 18-year-old is now set to rejoin Leverkusen. The German side announced in March that he would return to the club this summer on a four-year deal.

He ranked fourth for successful dribbles per 90 in the Austrian Bundesliga last term.

Alajbegovic is not shy about getting a shot away, registering 4.1 shots and 1.6 shots per 90, ranking second for both metrics.

However, he ranked 19th and 45th for goals and expected goal per 90, suggesting that his shooting needs improvement.

The Bosnian youngster also created nine big chances, while only six players recorded a higher expected assist figure (4.8) than him in the division, highlighting his creativity.

Alajbegovic is set to feature for Bosnia-Herzegovina at this summer’s World Cup, alongside former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

Despite his undeniable talent, Arsenal are expected to prioritise a move for a more experienced left winger.

The Gunners have been linked with Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers. Manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly pushing for his signature.

Arsenal are also keenly interested in Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola.

Marcus Rashford is another right-footed winger on their radar. The England international is seeking a permanent move away from Manchester United.
