Hertha Berlin youngster Kennet Eichhorn is attracting interest from several top European clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.
Due to his age, any move would see him remain in Germany until he turns 18. The 16-year-old defensive midfielder is highly regarded as a major prospect with the potential to develop into a Premier League-level player.
The Anfield club have already strengthened their centre-back ranks at youth level with the arrivals of 17-year-old Ifeanyi Ndukwe from Austria Wien and 16-year-old Dara Jikiemi from Celtic.
They are also working on a deal for 17-year-old attacking midfielder Samuel Martínez from Atlético Nacional. At first-team level, 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha is already making an impression, while the club continue to target 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as a key summer option.
Liverpool are also monitoring alternatives, including Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, 23, amid competition for Diomande.
According to Sport Bild via Bayern & Germany, Eichhorn’s release clause is lower than initially expected, around €9m for Bundesliga clubs, with his camp also seeking a signing-on fee of around €10m.
Dortmund have withdrawn from the race, while Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen remain interested despite the overall package.
Liverpool are also exploring the possibility of loaning Eichhorn to another European club until he is eligible to move to England at 18. The player is yet to make a final decision on his future.
Kennet Eichhorn made 20 appearances and scored two goals for Hertha Berlin during the 2025/26 season. Under coach Stefan Leitl, he anchored the midfield and emerged as one of the few bright spots in a difficult campaign for Hertha BSC.
For much of the transfer window, Bayer Leverkusen were considered favourites to land his signature. A key influence is Ibrahim Maza, who joined Leverkusen last summer from Hertha and has impressed since his move.
Eichhorn and Maza are understood to remain in close contact, while the teenager is also attracted by Leverkusen’s possession-based style under their current setup.
Bayern Munich, however, remain a strong contender, with the club’s stature as a European heavyweight continuing to carry significant weight in the race for the highly rated midfielder.
