Fans were delighted when reports emerged that Xabi Alonso had refuted interest in Acheampong. The new Chelsea boss has earned early brownie points with fans by making Acheampong untouchable.

Interestingly, Acheampong’s stance has now emerged less than 24 hours after Alonso and Chelsea made it clear he would not be for sale this summer, alongside the likes of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and others.

BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella posted on X that Acheampong is ‘frustrated’ at Chelsea as things stand and while Chelsea have made it clear he is not for sale, Acheampong is keen to seek assurances.
“Josh Acheampong will seek assurances on his future development, having grown frustrated about lack of minutes last season with clubs showing an interest in signing him. Chelsea regard him as ‘untouchable’.”

In the last few months, a handful of Premier League clubs have been linked with signing Acheampong. Manchester United are the latest English side supposedly showing an interest in the versatile defender.

Chelsea have been linked with both this summer.
After being linked in January, Man City have remained interested in Acheampong with Enzo Maresca set to take over from Pep Guardiola. A couple of months ago, Tottenham wanted to sign the Chelsea man.
If Acheampong cannot seek the assurances he wants when talking to Chelsea’s quintet of sporting directors and Alonso, then be sure. A whole host of Premier League clubs will want to sign Acheampong.
