Liverpool New Signing
Yan Diomande To PSG Edges Closer As Liverpool’s Salah Succession Plan Falters
The race for RB Leipzig’s breakthrough winger has taken a sharp turn, and the direction points firmly toward Paris. According to Sky Germany, as cited by GOAL, Yan Diomande to PSG has moved from speculation to near-confirmation, with the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international verbally signalling his approval for a move to the Parc des Princes. Luis Campos is wasting no time restructuring the PSG squad following their recent successes, acutely aware of the need to refresh Luis Enrique’s attacking options. PSG’s hierarchy reportedly waits for precisely this sort of mutual interest before committing their full resources to a transfer target.
Diomande arrived in Germany only last summer from Leganes, and after just one season, RB Leipzig named him the Bundesliga’s best young player, a campaign that yielded 13 goals and nine assists across 36 appearances. Leipzig, who hold a strong negotiating position given his contract runs until 2030, have indicated they will only consider offers in the region of £86 million for the forward. PSG remain reluctant to meet that asking price, yet the player’s preference tilts their hand considerably.
Yan Diomande To PSG Leaves Bayern And Liverpool Behind
Diomande has reportedly been less enthusiastic about the prospect of joining Bayern Munich, despite the Bavarian club showing strong interest in his services. Bayern reportedly seek a forward capable of operating centrally as well as on the wings to cover Harry Kane, and Diomande, primarily a winger, has yet to prove his effectiveness as a centre-forward at the highest level. That mismatch of profiles appears to have pushed the teenager away from Munich altogether. Diomande has previously spoken about his father’s dream of seeing him play at Anfield, calling it his own dream too. Those words carry weight, yet dreams and transfer negotiations rarely follow the same script.

What Yan Diomande To PSG Means For Liverpool’s Next Move?
Liverpool now face a summer that looks considerably harder than planned. Last summer, Arne Slot’s side parted with a record-breaking £446.5m to sign Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, yet Wirtz delivered a largely underwhelming debut campaign and Isak missed large chunks of the season through injury. Salah’s departure leaves a void that Liverpool’s current squad cannot fill from within, and the Diomande setback makes a complicated situation worse.
Reports suggest Liverpool are monitoring PSG’s Bradley Barcola as an alternative, a dynamic French international who predominantly operates on the left side of attack. However, it does not have the same immediate excitement that Yan Diomande to PSG has stolen from Anfield’s recruitment plans.

Liverpool cannot afford another slow summer. Slot needs genuine width, goals from wide areas, and the sort of explosive directness that Salah provided for nearly a decade. The Reds must decide quickly, decisively, and without letting the Diomande situation become a distraction from identifying and securing their next target before the window accelerates.
