Man Utd could rapidly 'accelerate' to beat Chelsea to £52m-rated gem as Tottenham eye big-money …

The latest Premier League transfer news including Manchester United, Spurs, Leeds and more

We’re just a couple of weeks away from the summer transfer window being officially opened, and there’s already been a flurry of activity following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season. Most notably, Barcelona flew out of the blocks to lock down Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, sealing a £70m deal before he flew out for the 2026 World Cup with England.

Elsewhere, Tottenham have all but sealed both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively, with both players set to arrive on free transfers following the expiration of their contracts. Chelsea, meanwhile, have both Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha on their way, with the deals wrapped up long before the summer.

We begin today’s transfer round-up at Old Trafford, where Manchester United are said to now “lead the race” to sign West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes. The Portuguese gem is said to be of interest to Chelsea, Aston Villa and Arsenal, but according to Caught Offside, it is the Red Devils who are currently marching ahead to sign the top talent.

The report suggests that United have been in contact with the 21-year-old’s entourage, and the player is eager to test himself in the Champions League next season. It is also mentioned that the player could be sold for around £52m, with the Irons’ requirement to sell following their relegation set to see them lose a host of their top players this summer.

The 3AM Verdict: Please spare a thought for the poor radio commentators who may have to repeatedly distinguish between two midfield Fernandeses at United. He looked excellent in the Premier League last season, and would be a great signing tojoin Ederson as part of their midfield revamp. With Arsenal and Chelsea prioritising signings in other areas, the Red Devils shouldn’t have too much trouble sealing the deal.

Leeds United back in for Ramsdale

Next up, it’s off to Elland Road, where Leeds United are preparing for a second consecutive season of Premier League football. They’ll need to strengthen this summer, with attackers and full-backs likely to be their key area of focus. A new goalkeeper could also be on the cards, should the Whites look to upgrade on Karl Darlow and Lucas Perri.

Football Insider claim they’re looking to do just that, and are set to reignite their interest in England international Aaron Ramsdale. The story states that Newcastle will not look to keep the ex-Arsenal stopper at the club on a permanent basis, which opens for the door for Leeds to make their move. Braga’s Lukas Hornicek is named as another potential target.

The 3AM Verdict: It’s rumoured that Leeds will have around £100m to spend on new signings this summer, which sounds like a lot, but they’ll need to spend it wisely. Being a homegrown player, Ramsdale won’t come cheap, and hasn’t been at his best for some time. Hornicek, while a lesser known ‘keeper in England, could be the smarter long-term investment.

Spurs ready raid for Bundesliga gem

Over to north London to round things off, where Tottenham are eager to get the bulk of their summer business done early, after avoiding relegation to the Championship on the final day of last season. Team Talk say Spurs have taken an interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jean-Matteo Bahoya, who could be available for around £60m this summer.

The report notes that “several” Premier League clubs are keen on the France U21 international, but fail to name any of the supposedly interested teams. It’s also said that the player’s contract doesn’t expire until 2027, meaning that his club are in a strong position when it comes to potential transfer negotiations.

The 3AM Verdict: Given that he can play on either wing or in an attacking midfield position, Bahoya’s versatility could be of great use to Spurs. He’s looked lethal going forward in the Bundesliga this season, and would inject a shot of pace into the side that manager Roberto De Zerbi would welcome. A player to keep an eye on, even if he doesn’t go to Tottenham.
