Yan Diomande gave nothing away about his future as he addressed speculation linking him with Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.
The 19-year-old is one of Liverpool’s top targets ahead of the summer transfer window following the departure of club legend Mohamed Salah at the end of the season.
Diomande enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with RB Leipzig after joining from Leganes last year, registering 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
He signed a five-year contract when he moved to the Bundesliga side from the Spanish club. Providing an update on his future, Diomande told Sky Sports: “My contract is until 2030 so I have four more years.”
“I am not going to say something crazy.I want to be one of the best on the field. But I want to go slowly, step by step to reach what I want to do.”
“Nobody knew me before,” he added. “To put up €20 million, it is a lot to buy a talent nobody knows. That was a big risk for them.
“I want to thank everyone at the club who gave me this amazing opportunity to be here. The only thing I can do for them to say thanks is give everything on the pitch and this is what I am trying to do every day.”
Diomande’s value has risen sharply, with the Ivory international reportedly having a release clause in the region of £86m.
That figure is more than four times what RB Leipzig paid last summer, though it is still viewed as potential value given his rapid development and growing list of suitors.
The forward has reportedly agreed terms with Paris Saint-Germain, with multiple meetings already held between the French club and Leipzig. However, he is also said to be tempted by a move to Liverpool.
Liverpool could hold a negotiating advantage due to Leipzig’s previous interest in Harvey Elliott, who could potentially be included in a player-plus-cash deal.
The Reds have also been linked with Bradley Barcola, with any move for the French forward likely dependent on Diomande joining PSG.
