Liverpool’s summer transfer window is already shaping up to be a busy one, despite the departure of Arne Slot. The club’s recruitment plans are showing no signs of slowing down.
The Dutchman was dismissed after a disappointing campaign and is expected to be replaced by outgoing Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, who has agreed to move to Anfield on a two-year deal.
Several changes to the playing squad are also expected. Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all been confirmed to be leaving this summer, while Alisson Becker has been linked with a move to Juventus.
Curtis Jones could also depart, with the midfielder entering the final year of his contract and no agreement over an extension currently in place.
Liverpool have also been strongly linked with Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries. The Netherlands international has a €20million release clause in his contract, and the Reds were keen to strengthen at right-back following injury-hit campaigns for Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong.
However, Liverpool appear set to miss out on the 30-year-old. According to Fabrizio Romano, Dumfries has agreed to join Real Madrid this summer, with the Spanish giants prepared to trigger his €20million release clause after reaching an agreement with the player.
Romano posted on X: “Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid, HERE WE GO! Deal in place and all agreed with Dutch right back to join Real Madrid from Inter, Spanish club will trigger €20m release clause. Dumfries has accepted Madrid, deal closed tonight and formal steps to follow.”
Denzel Dumfries has consistently demonstrated his quality at both club and international level, starring for the Netherlands and enjoying considerable success with Inter Milan.
The right-back made 28 appearances last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists as Inter completed a domestic double for the first time in 16 years. Cristian Chivu’s side secured their 21st Serie A title with three games to spare before defeating Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final.
Dumfries has also played a key role in Inter’s recent European campaigns, helping the Italian giants reach the Champions League final in the 2024/25 season.
