Aaron Donald ‘flirting’ with NFL comeback after Rams’ Myles Garrett trade

The Los Angeles Rams made arguably the biggest move of the offseason by trading for Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. With a new superstar edge rusher on the defensive line, it appears former defensive tackle Aaron Donald might actually be thinking about making a comeback with L.A.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz claimed that Donald informed him via text that he's at least thinking about unretiring to help the Rams contend for a Super Bowl next season. However, the four-time Defensive Player of the Year did admit he would need to find the motivation before making that decision official.

“I'm for sure flirting with the idea,” said Donald to Schultz in an alleged text message. “Helluva an opportunity with the Super Bowl in SoFi this year. If I can find the fire, it's a possibility.”

Aaron Donald decided to call it a career after the 2023-24 campaign, after playing in the NFL for 10 seasons, all with the Rams. He is regarded as one of the best interior defensive linemen in league history. Not only has he won the DPOY four times, but Donald is also an eight-time First-Team All-Pro and is a 10-time Pro Bowler, and helped Los Angeles win Super Bowl LVI (23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals).

The thought of Donald returning to the NFL to potentially play alongside Myles Garrett is tantalizing. At 35 years old and about two years out of the league, the future Hall of Famer would likely be just fine in making a return to football.
