Ravens’ Zay Flowers is thrilled after Myles Garrett’s trade away from AFC North

The NFL world was shaken up on Monday when the Cleveland Browns shockingly traded star defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Verse and draft capital. Naturally, that led to a flurry of reactions from players, coaches and fans around the league reacting to one of the best players in the league being on the move.

On Tuesday, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers weighed in. He didn't hold anything back and could barely contain his excitement about not having to play against Garrett two times a year anymore, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.

“Yeah, everybody is,” Flowers said when asked if he was happy Garrett was no longer in the AFC North. “I think everybody in Baltimore should be happy.”

It's no surprise to see that Flowers and the Ravens are happy that they won't be seeing as much of Garrett in the future. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year has 14 sacks in 16 career games against the Ravens, including 5.5 in two games last year. His four-sack effort on Nov. 16 last season was a key part of Garrett's record-breaking season that saw him set the all-time single-season sack record.

The Browns will still have a formidable defensive front next season with Verse and young defensive tackle Mason Graham leading the way, and that tandem could develop into an elite one in the coming years. However, now having to deal with Garrett wreaking havoc on the backfield is a relief for any offense.

On the contrary, Garrett now adds another superstar to an NFC West that is full of them. The Rams already had a very good defense and addressed their secondary concerns this offseason by adding both Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, and the Garrett trade should give them one of the best defenses in football.

Plus, there's no guarantee that the Ravens are done seeing Garrett altogether. Both teams have Super Bowl aspirations and are among the favorites to get to the big game, so maybe Garrett will be back to haunt Baltimore at SoFi Stadium this coming February.
