James McNicholas Claims Arsenal Are Tracking 32 G/A Forward Who Has Been Likened To Eden Hazard

Arsenal are big admirers of Ajax forward Mika Godts, according to The Athletic reporter James McNicholas.

Writing about the Gunners’ summer business in the Transfer DealSheet column, McNicholas named the Belgian international as a target, along with the likes of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi.

Godts has already been compared to Chelsea legend Eden Hazard due to his style of play and nationality

The 20-year-old scored a wondergoal against NAC Breda back in April, where he went past several defenders before rounding the keeper in a 2-0 win. Reports at the time suggested that the Gunners had scouts in attendance for the match.

The Arsenal target is attracting plenty of interest

Godts has also been linked with seven other Premier League teams, including Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Clubs abroad, such as Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig, are believed to be keeping close tabs on the forward’s development too.

He had a very good season for Ajax, scoring 17 goals and providing 15 assists in 44 appearances.

Godts won’t be at the World Cup this summer

Despite his excellent club form, Belgium head coach Rudi Garcia has chosen not to take the winger on the plane to North America later this month.

Godts only received his first senior cap back in March during a friendly against the United States, so it has clearly been decided that this World Cup has come too early for him. It does, however, mean that transfer negotiations could take place during the tournament.

Whether Arsenal will make their move depends on who their top target is. With the exception of Barcola, the other names on the list are not out-and-out wide players, so if manager Mikel Arteta is prioritising a winger, Godts could be near the top of the list.
