Ex-Man Utd striker Louis Saha believes Leny Yoro can reach the levels of his fellow countryman William Saliba.
The Arsenal star has been part of a Gunners defence which has become the best in England and the whole of Europe. Speaking exclusively to Man U News (courtesy of Arabic Casinos), Saha said that Yoro has the ability to replicate his compatriot’s trajectory and become one of the top centre-backs in world football:
“I do think that he has the potential to be as good as Saliba is now. He has shown that he has room to improve, but mentally, I think he’s very stable for such a young age.”

“So, I do think that there are a lot of elements that you can see that Yoro can keep this momentum, and grow with the club, and show that he can become someone special. I think before Manchester United, he was tipped to go to Real Madrid. I can understand why.”
The Man Utd star will be hoping to make a leap next season
Yoro has had two years in England now, and while he is yet to become a regular starter, the experience he has gained playing at the highest level should hold him in good stead.
Saliba’s big breakthrough came when he returned from his loan spell at Marseille in the summer of 2022. He was 21 at the time, but he quickly established himself as a key player when Arsenal mounted their first title challenge during the 2022/23 season.
Yoro will turn 21 later this year, so it remains to be seen whether he can make the same leap that Saliba made.
De Ligt’s injury issues could help Yoro
It does look like Matthijs de Ligt will miss the start of next season after undergoing surgery on a back problem. It means that manager Michael Carrick will only have Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Yoro and Ayden Heaven available initially at the beginning of 2026/27.
The aim for Yoro will be to impress Carrick enough in preseason to guarantee himself a starting place when domestic football returns in August.
