Enzo Fernandez sets deadline for Chelsea to make decision on his future

Chelsea superstar Enzo Fernandez has made it clear to the club that he wants his future decided before the World Cup gets underway this summer.

Fernandez made it clear before the domestic season even ended that he had an ambition to play for Real Madrid next season, stating how much admiration he has for the city.

It has been reported that the Blues would be open to a player swap for the Argentine, with Fede Valverde being mentioned as a player they would be keen to bring in.

Enzo Fernandez wants Chelsea future sorted before World Cup

The Argentine’s focus for now will be on the World Cup, and his country’s desire to retain the trophy this summer, facing up against some of his current club teammates in the process.

It looks as if he wants to be able to put his club career to the back of his mind for this summer, with the Mail Online reporting that he wants an answer on his future before the tournament gets underway, in just over a week’s time.

The report doesn’t state that he wants to have left the club before the World Cup, suggesting that he has not completely turned his back on Chelsea yet.

Xabi Alonso originally wanted to build his side around Fernandez, although has acknowledged his desire to leave the Blues.

The incoming manager gets to work in July, and would likely love nothing more than Fernandez to join up with his side during pre-season.

Fernandez not seen as untouchable for Chelsea

Chelsea reportedly have a handful of untouchable players ahead of the arrival of Alonso, including Cole Palmer, Reece James and Moises Caicedo.

However, Fernandez wasn’t mentioned in that list, suggesting the club would be willing to do business if the price suited them.

Marc Cucurella was also not mentioned in this list of players, despite being one of the club’s most important players over the last two seasons.

There are plenty of reports linking the left-back with an exit from the club too, notably to Atletico Madrid at the request of one of their players.
