According to AS, the Spanish heavyweights have reopened talks with Konate's representatives and are drawing up a four-year contract for the defender, with an additional year option included. The Benfica manager has already put pen to paper on a three-year deal ahead of his return to Madrid, as reported by The Athletic.
Konate had previously been on Madrid's radar earlier in the campaign before their interest waned. The centre-back is poised to represent France at the FIFA World Cup 2026 this month, marking his third major international tournament with Les Bleus.
