There is plenty of talent awaiting Xabi Alonso when he officially gets to work at Chelsea at the start of July, although there remains a mystery over who will start in goal.
The number one jersey was shared between Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen last season, although the latter found opportunities hard to come by.
Jorgensen has asked to leave the club this summer, a wish that the club are not going to stand in his way of after he had originally been denied an exit in January.
What is Xabi Alonso’s number one priority as soon as he walks through those doors?🤔

Frank Leboeuf believes Robert Sanchez is a ‘danger’ to Chelsea
This gives Sanchez in theory a clearer run to regular minutes, although there are doubts over whether he will suit Alonso’s style of play at Stamford Bridge.
The former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen boss has previously put an emphasis on playing out from the back, an area which Chelsea’s number one does not excel in.

Frank Leboeuf has told The Metro he believes that Sanchez and can be a ‘danger’ to his own side, and doubts Alonso will want to change his system for one player.
He said: “I don’t like to say that anyone should go. He’s a great goalkeeper, but when he’s with his feet, he’s a danger to his own team.
“When Donnarumma signed for Manchester City, he had the same problem, and Pep Guardiola managed to settle into a new system to make sure that Donnarumma doesn’t play with his feet too much. And so it might be possible.
“But I’m not sure Alonso will want to change his style for one player, so they might look to replace him.”

Sanchez under pressure from Mike Penders
While Jorgensen looks set to leave, there is an expectation that Mike Penders will remain with the first team squad next season.
Penders was rated as one of the best performers in the Conference League for Strasbourg last season during his loan spell.
He has earned a call-up to the Belgium World Cup squad, where he will gain experience working as an understudy to Thibaut Courtois.
It would be a serious step up for the youngster to become the number one at Stamford Bridge, however the club have always had high expectations of what he can deliver.
