Following deeply underwhelming debut campaigns at Stamford Bridge, both Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens could swift summer exits as Chelsea look to cut their losses.
Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens endured deeply underwhelming debut seasons at Stamford Bridge following their high-profile summer arrivals.
Garnacho, who joined in a £40 million deal from Manchester United, struggled to justify his price tag as he drifted in and out of the starting lineup. He did manage eight goals and four assists across 43 appearances, but he was constantly questioned over his attitude and consistency.
Meanwhile, Jamie Gittens’ first year in London completely stalled after his £48.5 million switch from Borussia Dortmund. The 21-year-old failed to score a single Premier League goal, making just 16 top-flight appearances mostly as a late substitute.
He hasn’t had it easy, though, after suffering a severe hamstring injury in late January, which was compounded by a brutal training setback.

Clubs register an interest in Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens
According to @Rodra10_97, via @ESPNDRadio, Chelsea are looking for a centre-back, a 6/8, and a winger.
On the exit front, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens have plenty of options to leave.
Chelsea’s current wing options are heavily congested yet desperately lack consistent output.
The likes of Pedro Neto and Estevao Willian have experienced mixed form and have suffered injuries at times.
However, the arrival of Geovany Quenda could spice things up, as he’s meant to have been promised a position out on the left wing.

Chelsea would need to go out and sign another winger
If both Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens depart Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea will be left a bit thin, unless they sign another winger.
Sanctioning a double exit would leave Xabi Alonso overly reliant on Cole Palmer in a position he doesn’t want to be in.
But, there could be two options. They could dip into the market and sign someone like Jarrod Bowen, or perhaps Xabi Alonso plans to use a system where the wingers are wing-backs.
