Player ‘could be headed’ to Tottenham – Barcelona keeping close watch, can benefit from Spurs move

Barcelona are monitoring Sergi Domínguez’s situation with Tottenham Hotspur appearing as his new suitor.

The 21-year-old graduated from Barcelona’s academy but couldn’t cement a place at the Camp Nou.

Therefore, Barcelona sold him to Dinamo Zagreb for around €1.2m in July 2025. He could be on the move again as Tottenham emerge as a candidate to sign the defender.

From Italy, Lazio have shown interest in the centre-back, who played 3,153 minutes from 44 matches for the Croatian club.

Journalist Alfredo Pedullà reports the Serie A side are keen on Sergi Domínguez and have held talks with his representatives.

He also mentions there’s been talk of Lazio offering around €4-5m, but they will need at least three times that amount to convince Dinamo Zagreb. The Italian club also have to be wary of Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

In the last few hours, Spurs emerge as a new contender for the former Barcelona man and are showing ‘strong interest’.

Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo relay this claim and then provide their own updates.

Barcelona are keeping a watch on the defender’s situation amid the latest claims of Lazio and Spurs’ interest. That’s because the La Liga winners will receive 20% of the profit from his future sale.

However, sources have informed Mundo that there are no formal offers on the table yet.

Another Catalan newspaper, Sport, first relay Pedullà’s claim and then share their own take.

After an impressive debut season, Domínguez’s ‘sale is virtually certain to happen in the coming weeks’.

Sport indicate the Spaniard ‘could be headed’ to Tottenham this summer.

Both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, the first-choice centre-backs this season, could leave Spurs.

Last month, Sport Witness relayed news the Premier League side will need at least €60m to let the Argentine leave.

Domínguez can be an option for Tottenham, who, according to Sport, could be willing to pay up to €9m. If he ends up in London for €9m, Barcelona can profit €2m from this deal.

Our take: Wait for more updates

Alfredo Pedullà only reported of Tottenham Hotspur’s strong interest and the medica local to Barca are hyping up this option.

The Catalan media have tendency to hype things anything positive or beneficial to Barca.

Therefore, it’s worth waiting to see if sources from Croatia or England either back it up or dismiss Spurs as a credible target.
