Everton are ‘very attentive’ to the situation around Sporting Club de Lisbon star Morten Hjulmand this summer.
A Bola report that Everton are one of the sides monitoring the 26-year-old as he looks to leave Sporting this summer.
Everton ‘very attentive’
The newspaper actually covers the developing interest from Atletico Madrid in the Danish midfielder, explaining that their interest goes back to the January transfer window.
According to their information, Sporting are currently unaware of any offer from Atletico, nor do they know of any impending offer either. That comes after reports stated Diego Simeone’s side were keen.
What they do now know is that Atletico are very fond of Morten Hjulmand, but they are not the only ones.
According to A Bola, Everton are also ‘very attentive’ to his situation and ‘keeping an eye on him’ this summer as well. Unlike Atletico Madrid, this interest is very new.
While the Spanish side have been interested since the January transfer window, nearly making an offer at end of that window, Everton’s interest is very new. The newspaper insists that no side has made an offer as yet, but Everton have the Dane ‘in their sights’.
Atletico over Everton
Unfortunately for them, if it came to a direct choice between Everton and Atletico, Hjulmand would prefer to move to Spain.
That’s hardly surprising given Simeone’s side can offer Champions League football. Everton will not be competing in any European competition following their collapse in the final weeks of the season.
Indeed, this move from Everton would be a bold one to say the least. Morten Hjulmand has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe over the last year.
Last summer it was Juventus, now it is Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid are also reportedly keen. Persistent reports have named Arsenal and Manchester United as admirers in the Premier League as well.
But A Bola insist that they’re in the mix and keeping track of what’s going on with the Sporting midfielder.
