Ever since his comments in March, Enzo Fernandez has been linked with an exit at Chelsea. Now, that is becoming more and more of a reality, even if Real Madrid and Chelsea are yet to agree on a fee.
Back in March, Fernandez flirted with Real Madrid, and it earned him a two-game ban, missing the FA Cup win over Port Vale and the 3-0 defeat to Man City in the Premier League. Fernandez was then reinstated.

But rumours over his future have not died down, even if it has been made clear that Chelsea would want a whopping £120m for Fernandez’s services. Reports from Spain say Real Madrid cannot afford that fee.
It is unclear if a compromise can be reached. But reports now coming out of Spain this week suggest a move is edging closer, with Fernandez’s desire to join Jose Mourinho’s new side as strong as ever.
Enzo Fernandez agrees personal terms with Real Madrid
According to Spanish reporter Miguel Serrano, 2022 World Cup winner Fernandez has agreed to join the Spanish giants after the conclusion of this summer’s competition. Personal terms have been agreed.
It does hinge on Madrid’s presidential election, but if Florentino Perez retains his spot at the helm of one of the world’s biggest footballing institutions, then Fernandez will honour his agreement to join Madrid.

“They have reached an agreement with Enzo Fernández. The deal Real Madrid has reached is not a transfer agreement with Chelsea, but a deal made with Enzo Fernández and his agent, Javier Pastore.
“[It is agreed] for him to become a Real Madrid player after the World Cup. That agreement doesn’t mean he’s definitely going to play for Real Madrid,” Serrano continued, as per Spanish newspaper Marca.
“It depends on whether the negotiations between Real Madrid and Chelsea are successful. We’ll have to see how much money Real Madrid is willing to offer and how low Chelsea is willing to go,” he added.
What is a fair price for Enzo Fernandez this summer?
While Chelsea have made it clear that Josh Acheampong, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro are ‘untouchable’ and not available for a sale, the situation is different with Fernandez. They don’t want him to depart.

However, they have named a price of £120m. It would be a record sale, eclipsing what Chelsea received from Real Madrid for Eden Hazard. Of course, Madrid are not going to be able to afford such a figure.
There have been murmurs of a player-plus-cash deal involving a series of Real Madrid players, including Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde. But both clubs may prefer to come to a cash-only figure.
If Real Madrid can raise a total that equates to around £100m, then that may tempt Chelsea. In a season where they lack the financial injection of European football, they may need an injection of cash like this.
