Former NFL linebacker-turned-analyst Emmanuel Acho said that the rich got richer in the Los Angeles Rams’ acquisition of Myles Garrett.
The Rams gave up Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick to add Garrett, who is fresh from a productive 2025 campaign, where he won his second Defensive Player of the Year trophy.

“What the Rams are building is quite literally unfair. You have one of the best pass rushers, if not the best pass rusher, in all of football. You got a top-five quarterback right now. You have two top-10, top-12 wide receivers, including a top-five wide receiver. Then you have Trent McDuffie, who has proven to be an All-Pro cornerback,” Acho stated on Speakeasy. “At the premium positions of football, you have premium players.”
“You might be saying to yourself, ‘Well, yes, they got an older Myles Garrett.’ I would still suggest Myles Garrett would probably have a bigger impact on the game of football over the next five years than Jared Verse, who is a rising star,” he continued.

Myles Garrett trade instantly puts the Los Angeles Rams back into the Super Bowl mix
The Los Angeles Rams’ acquisition of Myles Garrett caught everyone by surprise, as the Cleveland Browns were adamant that they had no interest in trading the seven-time Pro Bowler. However, the Rams refused to give up on their pursuit of Garrett, and the Browns’ stance softened when Jared Verse was included in the deal.
Getting someone of Garrett’s caliber significantly improves the Rams’ defense, which was 11th-best in the league last season, conceding an average of 20.4 points per contest.

Since entering the league in 2017, Garrett has been among the best defensive players in the NFL, having accumulated a league-best 125.5 sacks, 413 pressures, and 149 tackles for loss during that period. In his final season with the Cleveland Browns in 2025, Garrett set an NFL record with 23 sacks.
Garrett will join reigning MVP Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams, and Puka Nacua in the City of Angels. With this trade, the Rams have essentially exchanged long-term stability for short-term dominance.
