Aston Villa will look to fend off interest in Morgan Rogers this summer as Liverpool look set to turn their attentions elsewhere.

The Reds have been heavily linked with the former Manchester City player for a number of months now with the England international's performances winning plenty of admiration.

But Liverpool, who are set to welcome Andoni Iraola as their new manager, have no plans to test Villa's resolve due to other areas of the pitch commanding their attention.

Arsenal still remain interested in Rogers after winning the Premier League title and the Athletic reports: "Essentially, every top Premier League team admires Rogers. Arsenal, for instance, are among those to have reached out to Rogers’ representatives and asked to be kept informed of his situation.

“Liverpool, similarly, appreciate Rogers but are prioritising different positions other than an attacking midfielder as they seek to rebuild under new management.”

While Villa are expected to balance their finances, Rogers would command a fee of north of £80m but have zero interest in letting him leave.

But their resolve could be tested if a huge offer is received from the Gunners who are looking to strengthen their hand under Mikel Arteta.

Aston Villa - Europa League glory special edition on sale now

Unai Emery and his squad have brought silverware back to Villa Park by lifting the Europa League crown. And to celebrate, the Birmingham Mail have produced this stunning souvenir special edition, charting Villa's path to glory.

It is full of interviews, features, striking images and celebrations as we look back at a season to remember.

Rogers is still under contract until 2031 and, as the Telegraph revealed, Middlesbrough would be owed 20 per cent of the transfer fee due to a sell-on clause.

In an interview last month, Arsenal’s co-chair Josh Kroenke said last month: “We are going to look to strengthen because we know that teams around us are going to get better. If you are not trying to continually evolve and improve, you are standing still.”

Arsenal's manager delivered a pointed message to the club's decision-makers following their Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain.

Arteta insisted the club must make 'important decisions' demonstrating 'ambition' to elevate the team to 'another level' after claiming their first Premier League crown in 22 years.

His comments were deliberate, as Arteta is pushing for significant reinforcements, with England international Rogers featuring prominently on their radar.

Rogers has also caught the eye of clubs including PSG following another standout campaign under Unai Emery, with speculation that Villa may be willing to sell to comply with UEFA's financial controls.

Whether Villa will part with the player remains uncertain, but Rogers has captured Arsenal's attention due to his versatility in operating as a No.10 or on the left flank - positions Arteta is keen to bolster.
