"It wasn't his pinky. It was his fifth metacarpal. It's a broken hand," Windhorst said on the Get Up show. "When you break this part of your hand, it's known as a boxer's fracture because most of the time it means you hit something."
Robinson is officially listed as questionable for Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
Despite the injury and subsequent surgery, there is optimism that the veteran center will push to play in the series opener. The fracture occurred in his shooting hand.
In the 2026 NBA Playoffs so far, Robinson has averaged 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game while shooting 73.7% from the field.
The Spurs will host the Knicks in Game 1 on Wednesday at the Frost Bank Center.
