Ex-Knicks big man could’ve been preparing for NBA Finals – instead he was getting married

In a different world, former New York Knicks center Precious Achiuwa would be preparing to play the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals instead of getting married.

He recently had his lavish wedding with his now-wife, Sarina. The Achiuwas posted a carousel of pictures from their recent nuptials.

Achiuwa is coming off his first season with the Sacramento Kings. He had spent most of the last couple of years with the Knicks. Before that, he had stints with the Miami Heat and the Toronto Raptors. Achiuwa signed with the Kings in November 2025, and in 73 games with them, he averaged a career-high 10.1 points per game.

Coming into the series, the Knicks have won their last 11 games dating back to Game 4 against the Atlanta Hawks. They have been dominating their opponents, sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and Finals.

Meanwhile, the Spurs have had more of a grueling road to the Finals. They beat the Portland Trail Blazers in five games, but the Minnesota Timberwolves took them six games in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Their biggest test came in the Western Conference Finals. They went seven games with the Oklahoma City Thunder, ultimately winning the last two games of the series to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals.

The 2026 NBA Finals are a rematch of the Knicks' last trip to the series in 1999. In 1999, the Spurs beat the Knicks in five games to win the franchise's first of five championships. San Antonio hasn't won a championship since 2014. New York's drought goes even further, dating back to 1973.
