Chelsea set asking price for Marc Cucurella amid interest from multiple clubs: Reports

Chelsea have reportedly set an asking fee for star defender Marc Cucurella amid interest in the Spanish defender from multiple clubs.

Marc Cucurella has been a consistent performer for the Blues since he joined the London club from Brighton for a £63 million fee. Since joining Chelsea in 2022, he has scored 9 goals and provided 13 assists in his 163 appearances for the club. He helped the Blues win the UEFA Conference League (2024/25) and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup during his stint.

According to talkSPORT, Cucurella is open to a move away from Chelsea this summer. Atletico Madrid see the Spanish defender as a priority target and are set to open talks with the Blues in the coming weeks. Barcelona are also interested in the 27-year-old left back, but will have to make sales first to consider a move for Cucurella.

The Blues have reportedly set an asking price of £61 million for the Spanish defender. Atletico are hoping to seal a deal for £43 million this summer. The London club believe they have all the bargaining power because Cucurella still has 3 more years on his current contract with the club.

Marc Cucurella hits out at Chelsea youth-model after UCL exit

Cucurella has recently been critical of Chelsea's approach. Speaking to The Athletic after a 5-2 loss against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, the Spanish defender called out the model chosen by the club. He said (via talkSPORT):

“We lacked experience, for a lot of players, it was the first time playing a match of that calibre, and we paid the price.

"Results like that are always hard to take. You are fighting and training every day only to realise, at the very end, that when games matter, we are still a bit away from the top level.

“I understand this is part of the club’s policy, and that they want to take this direction; signing young players and looking to the future. But, for all of us who are still here and want to win big things, moments like this make you feel discouraged.

“We have a good core of players. The foundations are there. But to fight for major trophies such as the Premier League or the Champions League, you need more. Signing young players only might complicate achieving those goals. Against PSG, we lacked players that had gone through situations like that.

“You need time as well, and I know the young players are the ones that will have the experience in the future. But you need to find the balance between both worlds.”
