The decision marks a quick change from the Eastern Conference Finals, when police shut down the outdoor watch parties due to concerns over crowd size and safety after the events became too rowdy.
This time, however, the situation is different. The permit for Plaza 33 has been approved for Game 1 only, meaning fans will be allowed to gather outside the arena just for tonight's game.
An MSG spokesperson confirmed that Madison Square Garden applied for the necessary permits and received approval from authorities to host the watch party area again.
The status of future watch parties remains unclear, with no decision yet on whether fans will be allowed to return for upcoming games in the series.
