Leeds United, Aston Villa, Everton and Sunderland named among admirers of Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji

Leeds United are reportedly keen on making an ambitious move to lure Roony Bardghji from Barcelona.

The 20-year-old made a dream move to the Nou Camp last summer after impressing in Denmark with FC Copenhagen.

Bardghji made 28 appearances across all competitions in his maiden Barcelona campaign, registering two goals and four assists.

The Sweden international appears to have a bright future but the possibility of an early Barcelona exit has been mooted.

Leeds United linked with Barcelona winger

According to TEAMtalk, the La Liga heavyweights are prepared to let the wideman go and are open to the idea of sanctioning a permanent sale.

The report has claimed Leeds are well-positioned to take advantage having admired Bardghji for a long time. Leeds are thought to have tracked him closely and view him as a player who could add flair, creativity and goals in the final third.

However, the West Yorkshire club could reportedly face competition from Premier League rivals. Aston Villa, Everton, Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford are all said to have checked on the Swedish prodigy.

Bardghji may be young but is already well-acquainted with the pressures of elite football. As well as experience of the Danish and Spanish top flights, the winger boasts exposure to the Champions League.

Leeds United’s use of wingers

Leeds ended the 2025/26 season playing a 3-4-2-1 formation, a system that does not rely upon out-and-out wingers. However, with some of the current Whites widemen being linked with moves away from Elland Road, the club may be cautious of leaving themselves short out wide.

There is every possibility Leeds could switch back to a winger-focused system at some point and adaptability within a squad is key.

If the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani move on this summer, as reports have suggested they could, Leeds may be tempted to dip into the winger market.
