The Detroit Pistons’ solid season came to an end after they were eliminated in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the aftermath of the Pistons’ somewhat disappointing playoff showing, fans wondered aloud why the team’s deadline trade with the Chicago Bulls didn’t contain Ayo Dosunmu considering the seemingly low asking price.

The Bulls were reportedly asking for young players and draft capital in return for Dosunmu, something the Pistons didn’t want to part with just yet. Dosunmu is also entering unrestricted free agency and there was no guarantee he would re-sign with the Pistons.

The player the Pistons did receive in Huerter, was actually a solid contributor for the team before he was limited due to an adductor injury.
He appeared in 25 games for the Pistons, including three starts, at a little over 20 minutes per game. He averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals with splits of 44.3 percent shooting from the field.
