Arsenal submit £52m bid to sign 'elite' priority target before he stars at World Cup - report

Arsenal have reportedly submitted a £52 million bid to sign a new midfielder in the summer transfer window, before he jets off to the World Cup.

Although it's incredibly difficult to do, it's smart for clubs to try to get some of their business done before the beginning of an international tournament.

Players who are set to start at the World Cup could enjoy impressive tournaments, which in turn bumps up their price tag while also leading to other clubs joining the race.

There have been countless occasions where players get a big move off the back of a World Cup, so signing them before they shine can always be beneficial.

And that appears to be what Arsenal were trying to do as they prepare to improve their squad in the summer.
