Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez has reportedly made Barcelona his preferred destination this summer, despite strong interest from Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea as well as French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
According to reports from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Argentina international has informed interested clubs that his priority is a move to Barcelona should he leave Atlético during the current transfer window. The development represents a significant boost for the Catalan giants as they continue their search for a long-term successor to veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
Álvarez, who joined Atlético from Manchester City in a high-profile move, has emerged as one of the most sought-after forwards in European football following another impressive campaign in Spain. His performances have attracted interest from several elite clubs, with Arsenal, CHELSEA and PSG all monitoring his situation closely.
Reports indicate that representatives of the 26-year-old have recently communicated to Arsenal and PSG that efforts are focused on securing a transfer to Barcelona, effectively placing the Blaugrana at the front of the queue for his signature.
Barcelona’s pursuit, however, remains complicated. Atlético Madrid have repeatedly insisted that Álvarez is not for sale and have publicly rejected suggestions that negotiations are underway.
