Santa Clara County prosecutors have filed a warrant seeking the arrest of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on suspicion of misdemeanor exhibition of speed, court records show.
A spokesperson for the Santa Clara County district attorney’s office confirmed the existence of a warrant and charge but did not share details. Representatives for Aiyuk could not be reached.
The Santa Clara County Superior Court docketed the case Jan. 30 as an adult traffic matter. No hearing dates have been scheduled, and no attorney of record has entered an appearance on Aiyuk’s behalf.

Exhibition of speed, sometimes referred to as street racing or speed exhibition, is a misdemeanor offense and can carry penalties including fines, license suspension, and potential jail time.
Aiyuk, 26, spent five seasons with the 49ers after San Francisco selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Arizona State. He earned Pro Bowl honors following the 2023 season, when he caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Aiyuk and the 49ers engaged in a prolonged contract dispute that ultimately saw the receiver sign a deal for four years and up to $120 million. But Aiyuk tore his ACL seven games into that 2024 season and has not played a down for the 49ers since.
In 2025, the 49ers voided $27 million of Aiyuk’s contract guarantees after he reportedly failed to meet certain attendance and rehabilitation benchmarks. By November, Aiyuk stopped showing up at the 49ers’ facility, and the team placed him on the NFL’s Left Squad list.
The 49ers have since been attempting to trade Aiyuk but haven’t found any suitors and have struggled to re-establish contact with the receiver.
