DALLAS (KCTV) - Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is receiving physical therapy on his recently operated on knee while he is in custody in Dallas County.
According to court documents filed May 28 in Dallas County, Texas, Rice’s lawyers requested two things to the state.
The requests for the 26-year-old wideout included permission to be transported to Parkland Hospital to receive therapy on his knee. Rice had surgery to remove loose debris from his right knee in the week prior to his probation violation.
The second request from Rice’s legal team was for him to be moved from an isolated jail cell and into the general population.
Court officials in Dallas granted both requests for Rice, who was taken into custody for a positive THC test -- which violated the terms of his probation -- on May 21.

Rice is scheduled to be released from jail on Saturday, June 20. His probation violation has resulted in him missing voluntary OTAs with the Chiefs and mandatory minicamp, which will take place next week in Kansas City.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters on Thursday, May 28, for the first time regarding Rice’s probation violation.
“As far as Rashee goes, we are aware of the situation. The league is aware of it,” said Reid of the SMU product, who was drafted in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft and has had trouble staying on the field due to injury and suspension. “There has been no talk about anything further. We are moving forward now as we go here.”
Reid also said the team and trainer Rick Burkholder had been in contact with Rice regarding what he could do to help his recovery process while in custody. He said the Chiefs expect Rice to be ready for training camp when the team heads to St. Joseph, Missouri, later this summer.
