Kamara typically does offseason workouts on his own outside of New Orleans, and the Saints were not expecting him to report to OTAs today. Moore said the team is happy to see their longtime running back’s arrival at practice.
“We’ll start the process and get to work right away,” Moore said. “It’s good to see him. I just saw him right here at the team meeting we were starting today.”
Moore said he anticipated Kamara would participate in practice in some capacity but emphasized the team would ramp him up properly.
Moore said Kamara can fit well into the team’s offensive plans and provide needed depth at the position.
“I think he can fit in really well from an offensive standpoint,” Moore said. “Some of the schematic stuff that we’re trying to improve and get better at. That room can always use some depth. I think, you know, that group, you know, we’ve seen the history of this league. You’re gonna need two or three running back tributes.”
The Saints have the task of finding out how to split snaps and utilize Kamara alongside free agent signing Travis Etienne. Moore said the team needs to run the football better after struggles last season.
