'World-class' Man Utd star has snubbed Arsenal move, Red Devils prepared to compromise with…

Manchester United are prepared to find a suitable solution with Barcelona for the permanent transfer of Marcus Rashford, according to Sport.

The England international spent the 2025/26 season on loan with the Blaugrana. He had a good stint with 14 goals and 14 assists from 49 appearances in all competitions.

Despite his fine statistics, Barcelona have shown a reluctance to trigger a £26 million buy clause to purchase him.

Sport claim that United were initially frustrated by the decision, but there has been a change of stance. The hierarchy believe offloading Rashford’s entire salary next season would constitute a success.

The current buy clause expires on June 15. Barcelona are in no hurry to negotiate. They plan to pursue a marquee striker signing first before renegotiating for Rashford.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have enquired about the United graduate, but the Englishman has no plans to entertain offers from those clubs.

He appears determined to rejoin Barcelona, and his future could be sorted out after the World Cup.

United poised to offload Rashford permanently

Rashford left United on an initial loan deal to Aston Villa in early 2025 after a fallout with manager Ruben Amorim. This contributed to his temporary switch to Barcelona too.

Amorim has been replaced by Michael Carrick at the helm. Carrick would no doubt love to work with Rashford, but the club have made the decision to part ways with him.

Arsenal, Tottenham or Newcastle are more than capable of paying £26m. United could also secure a higher package, given his sublime campaign with Barcelona in Spain.

However, his massive £325,000-per-week wages are a huge stumbling block. The winger, hailed as ‘world-class‘ by Barcelona’s official website, did not secure a permanent move to Villa last summer after refusing to accept a pay cut.

Rashford, on the other hand, was more than willing to do so to join Barcelona. He could be prepared to repeat the feat, which would close the door for a Premier League return.

United don’t have much room for negotiation over Rashford due to his stance and may eventually accept a long-term payment plan from Barcelona to sanction his permanent exit.

Hopefully, it does not drag until the closing stages of the window. If Barcelona push for another loan deal, United must negotiate an obligation to buy in the summer of 2027.
