Binghamton bars gear up as Knicks open NBA Finals vs. Spurs

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) -- The recent success of the New York Knicks has made for an exciting atmosphere at sports bars and restaurants across New York State.

Tonight, May 3, the Knicks are playing against the San Antonio Spurs in game one of the [NBA Finals](https://www.nba.com/knicks/schedule).

The Knicks haven’t been to the finals in 27 years, where they lost to the Spurs in five games.

The biggest series of the year is likely to draw fans out to watch, including at the [Courtside Bar & Grill](https://www.courtsidebing.com/) in downtown Binghamton.

“A small local business like this, when you have a New York team, whether it’s playoffs or the Finals, it is something that you see an exorbitant amount of people coming out,” said Courtside Bar & Grill General Manager Chris Kehoe. “They want to go out, they want to go and celebrate with each other, and they want to come together. And it’s a big thing for the area.”

For businesses, big games can mean a noticeable bump in foot traffic and food-and-drink orders.

“Plenty of wings being made, we’re batting up burgers, and we’re just making sure we’re stacked in the kitchen, and we’re stacked in the coolers,” Kehoe said.

Kehoe reminds the community that Courtside has got sports fans covered.

“You’re going to see high energy and a great time. We’re going to take care of you guys,” Kehoe said.
