The transfer window is nearly upon us, and it promises to be a busy summer of business. The Premier League window opens on June 15, with Serie A following on June 29, while the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and LaLiga all open on July 1.
Clubs have already been planning their moves for months, and Sporting CP striker Luis Suarez is attracting interest from several sides this summer. The Colombian joined the Portuguese club last year as a replacement for Viktor Gyokeres after his move to Arsenal.
Suarez has impressed in Lisbon, finishing top of the 2025/26 Liga Portugal scoring charts with 28 goals, while registering 38 goals and eight assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.
His form has reportedly caught the attention of Newcastle United and Fenerbahce, although Sporting are holding firm on his €80m release clause and are unwilling to negotiate below that figure.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Suárez has also agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce, although any move depends on certain conditions being met.
Romano posted on X: “Luís Suárez has now reached an agreement on personal terms with Fenerbahçe project backed by presidential candidate
“Hakan Safi. Move remains conditional on the outcome of the club’s presidential election in the coming days — and agreement on fee with Sporting CP.”
Firstly, the move is conditional on presidential candidate Hakan Safi winning the club’s election, which will be held on June 6-7.
The deal would also depend on Fenerbahce agreeing a fee with Sporting, with it still unclear how much the Portuguese club would demand for Luis Suarez.
Suarez has been named in Colombia’s World Cup squad. The team will train in Bogota before facing Jordan in a friendly on June 7, having already beaten Costa Rica 3-1 on June 1.
It will be Colombia’s seventh appearance at the finals, and they will face debutants Uzbekistan in their Group K opener on June 17, followed by matches against DR Congo and Portugal.
