Former Steelers QB announces retirement from NFL

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback [Russell Wilson](https://x.com/DangeRussWilson/status/2062298629071601828?s=20) has announced his retirement from the NFL.

In a post on his social media accounts, Wilson writes, “Thank you, Football. Love, #3.”

Wilson recently accepted a job with CBS as their newest NFL analyst where he will replace Matt Ryan on _The NFL Today._

Wilson played one season for the Steelers in 2024, throwing 16 touchdowns to five interceptions and going 6-5 in the regular season and leading Pittsburgh to a wild card berth before losing to the Baltimore Ravens. He spent the 2025 season with the New York Giants, going 0-3 in three starts before being benched for Jaxson Dart.

Wilson was a third-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft, where he would lead Seattle to two Super Bowls and one Super Bowl victory. He is a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year.
