BETTIS ROOTING FOR LIONS
Jerome Bettis didn’t start his career with the Steelers, but he embraced the team and Pittsburgh as soon as he arrived. Bettis’ physical playstyle made him a perfect fit for the team, and he quickly became a fan-favorite player. While his time with the Steelers defined his career, including helping him win a Super Bowl, he still roots for his hometown team, the Detroit Lions.
Brad Galli posted a video on Twitter where Bettis talked about how he’s rooting for the Lions to bounce back in 2026 after a down 2025 season. That doesn’t mean he’s not rooting for the Steelers. However, Bettis’ journey started in Detroit, and he played his last NFL game there, too, so it isn’t surprising to see him still hold love for the Lions.

BALTIMORE THANKED EX-BROWNS DC
The Steelers’ season ended in disappointment last year, as they were blown out in the playoffs by the Houston Texans. However, their regular-season finale was great. They defeated the Baltimore Ravens, taking the AFC North crown and keeping their division rival out of the playoffs. The Steelers didn’t need to be in that position in the first place, though.
They could’ve locked up the division crown by beating the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. However, they couldn’t get the job done, leaving the door open for the Ravens. Former Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz recently revealed on Ryan Ripken’s podcast that people in Baltimore thanked him for that. A local restaurant even sent him a nice gift. Unfortunately for them, the Ravens didn’t capitalize.
Jim Schwartz on beating the Steelers Week 17 to give the Ravens an opportunity to go to the playoffs:
"I got calls from the people in Baltimore. @JimmysSeafood sent me a nice pack of crab cakes because obviously that put Baltimore right back in it to go. They didn't make much of… pic.twitter.com/E20aUv2ZXv

SMITH-SCHUSTER WITH GIANTS
JuJu Smith-Schuster burst onto the scene with the Steelers in 2017. He was the team’s second-round pick that year, and he recorded over 900 receiving yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie. Then, he was named the team’s MVP in 2018, catching 111 passes for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns. Unfortunately, Smith-Schuster failed to reach those heights again and left the Steelers after the 2021 season.
While Smith-Schuster was a free agent this offseason, he was recently signed by the New York Giants. Journalist Josina Anderson shared a video on Twitter of Smith-Schuster practicing with his new team. Seeing him in that uniform is going to take some getting used to. Hopefully, he sticks with them and makes an impact this year.
