Victor Wembanyama gets honest about awful Game 1 performance vs Knicks

Victor Wembanyama is confident he will be able to redeem himself along with the Spurs after losing the NBA Finals opener against the Knicks.

Victor Wembanyama vows to bounce back after a rough performance in his NBA Finals debut for the San Antonio Spurs.

Addressing the media after their 105-95 loss in Game 1 against the New York Knicks, the French superstar is confident that he and the Spurs can settle the score.

"Every team guards differently. I'm going to figure it out," Wembanyama simply said. "I was bad tonight. It's not more complicated than that."

Despite leading the Spurs with 26 points and 12 rebounds, Victor Wembanyama significantly struggled against New York's physical defense.

He shot just 6-of-21 from the field and committed six costly turnovers across 38 minutes.

Wembanyama is not the only one who struggled, as the entire Spurs team suffered a brutal shooting night with just 36 percent shooting as a team. Co-star De'Aaron Fox endured an awful seven-point performance of his own.

Now trailing early in the series, Wembanyama is not losing hope for himself and the Spurs to tie the series heading to Friday's Game 2 back on their home floor.

"We've been down in series before, but I'm not kicking myself about anything, really," Wemby said. "I'm not worried in the slightest."
