The New York Knicks had a ton of time off heading into Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, but they didn't show many signs of rust. Despite falling behind by 14 points in the second half on the road, New York came back to get a 105-95 win and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Despite suffering through multiple injury scares and some shooting struggles in the first half of Game 1, Jalen Brunson led the Knicks to the win in the fourth quarter as he so often does. After the game, Brunson talked about the comeback and the biggest key for the Knicks to claw back in the game.

“Honestly, I just think our chemistry,” Brunson said. “Just knowing that we have each others' back. There's a lot of things Xs-and-Os-wise that we could've done better, but I think most importantly our togetherness was the biggest difference.”
Brunson didn't have his best stuff in Game 1 on Wednesday night, especially after dealing with what appeared to be ankle and knee injuries in the first half. However, he still finished with a game-high 30 points on 12-of-31 shooting. Late in the game, with the Knicks trailing by one, the star point guard nailed the biggest shot of the game to give the Knicks a lead that they didn't relinquish.
Neither team shot the ball all that well in this game. The Knicks shot just 41% from the field and 11-of-36 from 3-point range, including a 2-of-9 night from 3-point range from Brunson. On the other side, the Spurs missed even more shots. San Antonio shot 36% from the floor and 11-of-43 from deep, numbers that will need to improve moving forward if it wants to come back in the series.
The Knicks should be feeling very good about themselves after stealing Game 1 despite an inefficient night from the field from their best player. They have also secured home-court advantage heading back to Madison Square Garden regardless of what happens in Game 2. New York will get a chance to get another win on the road on Friday night.
