Wembanyama likened the event to a 2024 incident where Spurs mascot Coyote stormed the Frost Bank Center court and caught a flying bat during their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
"I've never been in that situation," Wembanyama candidly said after the Spurs' 105-95 Game 1 loss against the New York Knicks.
"I didn't know how to act. It really surprised me almost as much as that time when a bat crashed the court."
With over six minutes left in regulation during San Antonio's offensive possession, a fan suddenly stormed the Frost Bank Center court and went near Wembanyama. The fan attempted to take a selfie with the Spurs star before he was immediately taken away by the security staff.
Fortunately, neither Wembanyama nor any other players were harmed by the fan's reckless entry.
The play was stopped, and both Mike Brown and Mitch Johnson agreed to the officials' proposal of a jump ball right after the bizarre incident.
