Karl-Anthony Towns gets honest Game 1 assessment from Mike Brown

The New York Knicks came into San Antonio and stole Game 1 from the Spurs despite trailing by double-digits in the third quarter.

While Jalen Brunson did most of the flashy heroics, scoring 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback, Karl-Anthony Towns also did a masterful job in the victory.

Towns finished Game 1 with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists on 7-of-15 shooting in 34 minutes of play. The Knicks center played big in the third quarter, scoring 10 of his 18 points in the quarter, grabbing four boards, and dishing out two dimes in 10 third quarter minutes.

After the game, head coach Mike Brown came out and praised his star center for matching up with Victor Wembanyama, hitting timely shots, and coming up with big rebounds.

Brunson recorded 30 points with three rebounds and two assists in Game 1, while OG Anunoby scored 17 points. Josh Hart grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with his six assists and four steals.

The Knicks were able to overcome Victor Wembanyama's monster line of 26 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. The Spurs star did have six turnovers and shot just 6-of-21 from the field.

Game 2 between the Spurs and Knicks will tip off at 8:30PM EST on ABC.
