Everton have previously tried to sign Bologna’s Emil Holm and can have another chance at a move.
The right-back has had a frustrating last 12 months. He was loaned out to Juventus in January after an inconsistent first half of the campaign at the Rossoblu.
Things didn’t change in Turin, as injury worries plagued him. He could play only seven times in Serie A and is expected to return to Bologna, as the Old Lady have decided against a permanent deal.
Sport Witness have previously covered how Everton tried to sign him in January. They made a formal approach but the Old Lady beat them late in the window.
Now, attempts are ongoing to find a new club.
Desperation growing
Il Resto Del Carlino report about possible outgoings from Bologna. They have failed to qualify for Europe, which means the list consists of some significant players.
Holm is one of the more unwanted players, as things stand. Bologna are sure he will return to them and his ‘agents are working’ to find a new club.
A move to the Premier League is seen as a top-choice. The outlet note that Everton have previously tried to sign him and this option will appeal to the right-back in the summer too.
Bologna are somewhat desperate for a sale too. They believe Holm’s sale can reduce the need to move on from key players like Jonathan Rowe or Santiago Castro, who can play a big role for them next season.
Toffees move risky
The last 12 months are a bit of a red flag, when it comes to signing Holm. He has constantly had problems with muscle injuries and they go back to the 2024/25 campaign. He faced four different injuries at that point, which impacted his playing style directly.
The Sweden international is the sort of full-back who was very active down the right. He was constantly bombing forward from deep, especially during his time at Spezia.
Now, a move will be a big risk for Everton. An initial loan deal can help the 26-year-old get back on track and prevent the Toffees from spending upfront.
