The Miami Dolphins' decision to take Tua Tagovailoa over Justin Herbert continues to be one of the worst in franchise history.
Many Dolphins fans wanted to argue that Tagovailoa was better than Herbert, though that ship has sailed completely now, as there's really no debate about who the better quarterback is.
Not that Herbert has won a whole lot during his time with the Los Angeles Chargers, but as a player, there's no debate who the better player is.
To make things even more interesting, the Dolphins and the fans who thought Tagovailoa was better than Herbert will have an opportunity to see what Herbert looks like in a Mike McDaniel offense.
Tagovailoa was cut and will play for the Atlanta Falcons, while McDaniel was fired and will now be in Los Angeles. Speaking to reporters about it, it sounds like Herbert is very excited to work with the former Dolphins offensive coordinator.
“It was really exciting,” Herbert said, per the Chargers. “Obviously, we have so much respect for him, and it has been so much fun getting to meet with him and talk to him and understand how he sees the game. I’ve really enjoyed my time with him so far.”
“He’s a very talented and smart coach,” the quarterback later added about McDaniel. “The first few meetings [with him] were awesome. We talked more than just football and it was awesome.”
It would be pretty funny to see McDaniel end up helping the Chargers win a Super Bowl after all of the talk Dolphins fans had about it. On the flip side, there are definitely going to be some Dolphins fans who still try to follow and believe in him, who think he's still better than Herbert, hoping that Herbert doesn't play well.
