Arsenal Are "In Talks" To Secure £10M+ Transfer Of Wonderkid Ahead Of "Several Top Clubs"

Arsenal are “in talks” to secure the signature of Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners are one of eight teams who have made a formal approach for the player, and Jacobs claims the teenager could cost upwards of eight figures:

“Arsenal are in talks to sign Jeremy Monga. Several top clubs have made approaches for the 16-year-old Leicester City winger.”

“Sources say Leicester have received as many as eight formal enquiries from top clubs in England and Europe. Monga could cost in excess of £10m. It is possible a transfer could go to a tribunal to determine a fee.”

Why Monga’s fee could be decided by a tribunal

The 16-year-old has agreed to sign a professional contract with Leicester this summer, despite interest from Arsenal and other teams.

It means that Monga can’t be poached without a transfer fee being paid. Due to his age, a tribunal could be set up to determine a fair price if Arsenal and Leicester are not able to find an agreement on their own.

Monga has only made 37 senior appearances, seven of which have been in the Premier League, so a £10m+ fee would be a big sum for a player who doesn’t have a great deal of experience at the highest level.

Arsenal will need to offer him a path to the first team

Considering that the youngster has been playing regularly for Leicester in the Championship (before their relegation last month), it seems unlikely he would accept playing in Arsenal’s Under-21 setup.

For that reason, if Monga does make the switch to the Gunners, a loan move away from the Emirates may need to be secured to ensure he continues to develop his game at senior level.
