Celtic's next manager favourite Robbie Keane is en route to South Korea despite being locked in talks to become the next Parkhead boss.

Keane will star for a Liverpool legends side against Barcelona on Saturday after holding "constructive talks" with Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond.

The Republic of Ireland icon is in a battle with Martin O'Neill to land the job. The 74-year-old is in play for another role at Celtic Park if he doesn't win out, weeks after delivering an improbable double and denying Hearts their first title in 66 years.

Keane's bid to become the next Celtic boss has been met with resistance among a section of the support over his time spent managing in Israel with the 45-year-old and Desmond called out in an X-rated banner which was displayed outside Parkhead on Wednesday.

Keane will hook up with close friend Steven Gerrard in Korea to take on a star-studded Barcelona side which includes legendary stars such as Andres Iniesta, Rivaldo and Carles Puyol.

The former Ferencvaros boss is looking for his next role after leaving the Hungarian club, failing to win their league title for the first time in five years.

It's unclear if a Keane's dash across the globe with heighten the need for a quick decision or if his appearance in Korea will see the search to find Celtic's next permanent boss.
