Anticipation for the summer is already growing on the south coast as John Mousinho looks to strengthen his ranks ahead of the new campaign.

Ten names have so far been tipped with a move to PO4 and while many have already been rubbished, others have a bit more credence.

The rumour mill is continuing to turn across the division, however, with gossip and speculation doing the rounds ahead of the window’s opening.

Here are the latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.

Championship tug-of-war for Liverpool talent

Bolton Wanderers are preparing for life back in the Championship after securing their return via the League One play-offs last month.

Steven Schumacher has already been busy bolstering his ranks following the addition of Kilmarnock midfielder David Watson earlier this week.

The Trotters’ recruitment drive isn’t appearing to slow down any time soon, with the second-tier new-boys set to battle it out to sign Liverpool talent Luca Stephenson.

The Daily Mail have revealed the two Championship rivals are in a tug-of-war to secure the midfielder’s services this summer, with the Premier League outfit valuing the academy graduate at £1m.

Stephenson’s stock has risen sharply in recent seasons after two outstanding loan stints at Dundee United, where he amassed 67 appearances in all competitions.

Celtic and Rangers were both reportedly interested in the Anfield academy graduate, who now appears destined for a move to the Championship.

Despite rising through the ranks on Merseyside, the ex-Barrow man has failed to register a senior appearance for Liverpool, with his sole outings coming at youth level.

Now, both Bolton and Blackburn are reportedly battling it out to secure his signature this summer.

Cardiff City face a huge battle to re-sign one of their key members in their League One promotion-winning season.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have revealed Bluebirds loanee Omari Kellyman has strong interest from the Championship and on the continent as his standing in the game grows.

Chelsea are expected to loan the winger out once more to aid his development, with Brian Barry-Murphy’s side keen on his signature this summer.

The 20-year-old was central to Cardiff’s instant return to the second-tier last term, netting 11 goals and collecting two assists in 36 outings during his maiden full loan stint away from Stamford Bridge.

Kellyman is a versatile forward who can operate either out wide or as a number 10 and has been given the green light to depart the Premier League outfit on a temporary basis once again.

The Welsh side return to the Championship for the first time since the 2024-25 campaign, with their last visit to Fratton Park a 2-1 defeat in February 2025.
