Mikel Arteta has announced eighty players will be leaving the club

Arsenal have confirmed that eight players will depart the club this summer, with a further seven set to leave the women's team. Mikel Arteta's side suffered heartbreak in the Champions League final, losing on penalties to PSG, who successfully defended their title.

The Gunners brought their 22-year Premier League title drought to an end, and no first-team regulars will be heading for the Emirates Stadium exit this summer, while eight academy prospects will depart when their deals expire.

Piero Hincapie remains the sole senior player whose immediate future hangs in the balance. The Gunners possess an option to make the Ecuador international's move permanent for a reported £45m this summer due to their agreement with Bayer Leverkusen.

Sam Chapman, Harrison Dudziak, Seb Ferdinand, Cam'ron Ismail, Will Lannin-Sweet, Josh Nichols, Samuel Onyekachukwu and Alexei Rojas-Federushchenko will all bid farewell to the club, reports the Mirror.

In a club statement, Arsenal said: "We thank all the players leaving us for their contributions to the club. You will always be part of the Arsenal Family, and we wish you all the best of health and happiness in your futures.

"Any further developments regarding players extending their contracts, as well as joining/re-joining, or leaving us, will be officially communicated when confirmed."

The contracts of Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Christian Norgaard and Gabriel Martinelli are set to run out in 2027, and the club is anticipated to cash in on some of these players this summer, although they do have an option to extend the latter pair's contracts by a further year.

Jakub Kiwior will be offloaded this summer, but he doesn't feature on the list, following an agreement being struck with Porto after his loan spell this season. Arteta has already thrown down the gauntlet for Arsenal's transfer gurus this summer, urging the board to show great ambition.

Speaking after the loss to PSG in the Champions League final, Arteta said: "It is very tough to accept when you are so consistent all the way to the final, and in the end you lose the trophy on penalties.

"We need to do better, we have to improve and we have to find different margins to get the outcome we want. First of all, I will take a few days with my family and then we will start the process to review what we have done.
