Myles Garrett has established himself as one of the best defensive players in the NFL. He had an impressive 2025 season where he set a new NFL single-season record with 23 sacks for his team. However, the Cleveland Browns had a terrible 2025 campaign.
After such a season, he has finally decided to leave for a better team in the Los Angeles Rams, and has now explained why he made the move.

Garrett was drafted by the Browns as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent nine seasons with the franchise and earned seven Pro Bowl selections along with five first-team All-Pro honors. He also won Defensive Player of the Year twice in 2023 and 2025. But the Browns only made it to the playoffs twice during his tenure.
The 30-year-old recently spoke on the Rams’ YouTube channel about why he made the move. He said, “I’ve done pretty much everything I set out to do in Cleveland, I’d given my all and my everything, and I’m very fortunate for my time there. But it’s always been about winning and I want to win a championship and I’m happy to be part of a franchise that’s in a position to do that, and do that for years to come.”
He also highlighted both head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead’s role in making the Rams “an appealing destination”. Garrett also bid farewell to the Browns fans after his move.

After his move was confirmed, Garrett posted a farewell message dedicated to the Browns fans. After spending all his career there, he felt emotional about leaving the franchise. Many fans were not happy at his departure.
His message said, “What I can say with complete honesty is this: I gave this city everything I had. I suited up and wore those colors with pride, and I don’t regret a second of being part of this storied franchise. Every Sunday. Every offseason. Every play. Every down. Every moment. You gave me more in return than I can ever repay.”
His message also read, “The best days for this franchise are ahead. Thank you for letting me grow here. Thank you for believing in me. Loving you is easy. Leaving you is the hard part. Thank you for nine unforgettable years.”
