The fan who ran onto the court during Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks to take a selfie with Victor Wembanyama has received a strong punishment from the NBA.
According to NBA writer Tim Reynolds, the fan who entered the court was arrested and banned for life from all NBA arenas.
"The individual who entered the court area during Game 1 of The Finals was arrested and will be banned for life from all NBA arenas. A second individual will also receive a lifetime ban for his role in the incident," an NBA spokesman told Reynolds.
With 6:26 remaining, a fan suddenly entered the Frost Bank Center court and took a selfie with Wembanyama.
Two security officials immediately removed him from the game, and fortunately, no players were hurt during the incident.
Both the Knicks and Spurs agreed to continue with a jump ball after the bizarre interruption.
The Knicks eventually won Game 1 with a 105-95 victory, stealing home-court advantage and stunning Wembanyama and the Spurs.
