Arsenal 'in talks' over teenage sensation as Sheffield Wednesday's Yorkshire rival 'cools'…

All the very latest transfer rumours from League One ahead of the summer transfer window opening on June 15.

A busy summer is on the horizon for Sheffield Wednesday and their new ownership group, Arise Capital Partners.

Following relegation from the Championship, the Owls are set to be among the busiest clubs in League One in this summer’s transfer window amid the need to oversee a major squad rebuild. The window will open for business on June 15 and Wednesdayites are hoping the club will be able to hit the ground running.

Plans are continuing to be drawn up ahead of the window opening in just over a week’s time, and The Star understands soon-to-be free agent Odin Bailey is under consideration. He will be available on a free transfer this summer after not being offered a new deal by Stockport County.

Elsewhere in League One, other clubs are in the process of greasing their wheels ahead of the shutters being lifted, while some outfits have already drafted new faces in. With that said, here are some of the latest headline’s concerning Wednesday’s League One counterparts...

Arsenal want Leicester youngster

Arsenal are ‘in talks’ with Leicester City to try and sign 16-year-old sensation Jeremy Monga, according to a report by talkSPORT - but they face competition from other suitors. The teenager was the youngest goalscorer in the Championship in 2025/26, scoring his first and so far his only senior goal just over a month after celebrating his 16th birthday.

He was a regular fixture for the Foxes this term, making 30 appearances across all competitions, 27 of which were banked in the Championship. Widely considered as one of the brightest talents in English football, Leicester, who were relegated to League One alongside Wednesday this season, face a fight to keep hold of him.

Arsenal are said to be ‘in talks’ with the Midlands outfit over a deal for the winger, but they face competition from elsewhere. It is claimed ‘as many as eight top English and European clubs’ are interested in his signature.

Monga made his senior debut for the Foxes on April 7, 2025, aged 15 years and 271 days, becoming, at the time, the second-youngest player to have ever played in the Premier League.

Bradford call off Johnston pursuit

According to a report by the Telegraph & Argus, Bradford City have ‘cooled’ their interest in soon-to-be free agent George Johnston. The defender will be available on a free transfer this summer after being informed he will leave Bolton Wanderers when his contract expires at the end of this month.

The centre-back, who is a product of Liverpool’s academy, recently helped Wanderers climb back into the Championship via the League One play-offs after a seven-year absence from England’s second tier. He was Wanderers’ longest-serving player having joined them back in 2021.

As well as being linked with Bradford earlier this week, the 27-year-old was also linked with fellow League One sides Luton Town and Plymouth Argyle. Both Luton and Argyle narrowly missed out on a play-off place this term. Scottish club Hearts have also been credited with interest.

It appears Bradford, though, are going to run the rule over alternative options having now made the decision to ease their level of interest in the defender.
